La croix du combattant est une décoration honorifique Française créée en 1930 pour les Poilus de la 1ère guerre mondiale. C'est à partir du projet de Doumenc, représentant une croix de Malte aux branches reliées par une couronne de lauriers et au centre une effigie coiffée d'un casque lauré entourée de la mention République Française, que cette médaille au ruban bleu à rayures verticales rouges a été réalisée. Seuls les titulaires de la carte du combattant sont autorisés à porter la croix du combattant.
Cette croix du combattant a dû être beaucoup portée par son combattant donc exposée à la lumière, ce qui a défraîchi la couleur bleue de son ruban.
