Boîte d'allumettes vide de 1974 en carton de la S.E.I.T.A Made in France représentant un gendarme de la Maison du Roy sous Louis XV.
Les allumettes dépendaient d'une régie d'Etat appelée Compagnie générale des allumettes chimiques. En 1935, la S.E.I.T.A en prendra le contrôle puis privatisée en 1995, sera rachetée par une entreprise étrangère.
Les gendarmes du Roy étaient des cavaliers appartenant à la noblesse. Leur fonction fut supprimée peu de temps avant la Révolution Française de 1789. La loi du 16 février 1791 précisa que la maréchaussée porterait le nom de Gendarmerie Nationale.

Empty 1974 cardboard matchbox of the S.E.I.T.A Made in France representing a gendarme of the King's House under Louis XV.
The matches were under the control of a state company called the Compagnie générale des allumettes chimiques. In 1935, the S.E.I.T.A. took control of it and then privatized in 1995, was bought by a foreign company.
The King's gendarmes were cavalrymen belonging to the nobility. Their function was abolished shortly before the French Revolution of 1789. The law of 16 February 1791 specified that the constabulary would bear the name of the National Gendarmerie.
